Trekking in the Gangotri National Park

Walking in the mountains has always felt so therapeutic. The only thoughts that run in my mind are things like where to walk, where to step (need to watch my steps, as I’m prone to accidents), and other such things which compel me to be present, to be there in the moment. There’s absolutely no place then for any of the big worries in my mind.

Gaumukh Tapovan Trek in the Gangotri National Park in Uttarakhand is, for me, one of the memorable treks ever! This day, as the weather cleared – after an incessant snowfall for the whole of previous day, slowing down much later into the night, we set out to explore the grand Meru Glacier.

The Handsome Mount Shivling

After an almost incessant snowfall the previous night, we woke up to a beautiful clear day. And there it was, the stunning mount Shivling standing tall in its full glory! It was completely obscured the previous day when we had set up the camp even as it snowed continuously, it was hard to even imagine something this grand stood right there and we couldn’t see it!
