International Day of Happiness is celebrated on 20 March, to acknowledge the importance of happiness and to address the causes & reasons for unhappiness around the world.
Of course, happiness means different to different people. For me it actually means a lot of different things including travel, and creative expression. But, I’ve also observed that along with some constants, many of the factors keep changing. What made me happy, maybe 10 years ago, isn’t a necessary factor for being happy today. Well, happiness is, as we know, subjective.
A couple of years ago I was going through a rough phase and was struggling to stay balanced. That’s when someone (very close to me) told me about a certain Happiness Course. I, of course, didn’t give it a serious thought at first. Ah! the ignorance we’ve been enveloped with, especially about such crucial topics. Anyway, I soon decided to check out the course and give it a try with an open mind.
To my surprise, the Happiness course was actually quite helpful. And even as I casually discussed some points, references and examples from the course with my friends, I realised that everyone found it relatable. Because, of course, happiness is a part of all of us and vice versa. So you see, the topic isn’t just for someone struggling to find balance, it is a very generic course, that I’m sure, anyone and everyone would find helpful in some way or the other. I’m saying this from my personal experience, alone, with no other motive than to share it with anyone who might need it.
Since I found it helpful, I thought I’ll share it here. And if someone who needs it, finds it today, that would be great.
It’s a FREE course called A Life of Happiness and Fulfilment available on Coursera – an online study platform.
Also, I truly hope you have found at least one reason to smile and be happy about, today – on this World Happiness Day.
